Updating the List: Gardening

Remember The List? Well, we’ve been working on crossing off another item and I wanted to share some pics!

We currently rent an apartment, so our gardening takes place in pots. We’ve gardened in pots in past years, but this is our first year starting our plants from seed. This year, we are growing tomatoes, lettuce, basil, and broccoli. It’s so fun to watch them grow. (And it’s about the only reason I feel grateful for the constant rain this summer. Sigh. Although I’m not so grateful for it pouring out of my gutters and into my plant pots as it causes soil erosion and over waters them, that’s killed off a few of my plants so far! I have contacted Clean Pro Gutter Cleaning Huntsville area though and they’ve managed to sort my gutter issues out finally!) … So after this little dilemma was sorted it’s been amazing watching our seeds grow into these plants. The only thing that I have tried to keep my eye on during this process are pests, as I don’t want them to start infesting my home after being attracted by my plants. My friend who lives in Pennsylvania has told me about these experts that she uses, (https://www.pestcontrolexperts.com/local/pennsylvania/) and apparently they’ve done a great job in being able to free her home of any unwanted guests. I guess I’ll just have to make sure that I keep my eye out for any bugs near my windows so I can spray them with some repellent. I hope this doesn’t happen though, as I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved so far.

I will admit that my thumb is only a very light green and possibly more of a yellowish tint. My landscaping knowledge also leaves a lot to be desired. For example, when I had a garden of my own a few years ago I used to hire a team of lawn care professionals to take care of my grass. Keeping your lawn looking lovely and free from weeds and pests takes a lot of work so there is no shame in reaching out to the experts on websites like www.lawncare.net after all. My grass was always so healthy and neat. Before I attempted any gardening, I was under the assumption that it was all work and no play, and that I would be up to my armpits in weeding day in and day out. But what amazes me is that these plants just continue to grow in spite of me. I really can’t take much of the credit. I wonder what would happen if I had a massive garden to look after, and not just a couple of plant pots? Like what would happen if I had a lawn to mow, trees to prune – how would I cope when it came to Autumn and I would have to make sure to sweep up all the leaves off the ground? I’d probably have to make use of something from The Best Leaf Blowers, but I just feel like that would be too much for me. I much prefer having a smaller garden, even if it only has plant pots in it at the moment. It’s certainly a lot easier for me to look after anyway. Although I commend those people who have huge gardens that still look incredible – how do you do it?
