I’ve been looking forward to writing this post for a long time. I’ve even formulated it in my head a few times in hopes that this day was coming. And now it’s here.
I am so happy to share with you that this week Wes accepted a job as youth pastor at Grace Bible Church of Souderton, PA.
Oh wow. That was fun to write!
We are so excited about this next step in our journey. Little did we know when Wes lost his job last year that it would be almost a year and a half before we knew what the next step in our lives would be.
It hasn’t been easy, but it has been good. In fact, this blog is a direct result of Wes being laid off. I’d definitely say that’s good!
But now, we are ready for the next step in our adventure. Plus all those other emotions that accompany a big change in your life. Nervous. Sad. Overwhelmed. Sentimental. But mostly excited.
And, have no fear. Although our circumstances are changing, the blog will continue. We are moving to an area where the cost of living is MUCH higher than where we live now. Living large on a limited budget will continue to be our motto!
If you’d like learn more about our journey to this point, feel free to check out my other blog here.
Now, any tips on moving on a limited budget? I’ll take all the help I can get!

Souderton is a wonderful area. My son has lived there for years and works at Costco. He’s getting married one year from today and still needs to find a minister. Hmm, know anyone? We’ll have to get in touch. Thanks.

New to your page….I live in Bethlehem, PA. Maybe you will be doing links to Giant Food Stores of PA or deal finders?

Jaime,
I hope to post more about local deals and possibly do some store coupon match-ups. If I don’t do them myself, I’m sure I can find someone else to link to!

Congratulations guys!! I looked online and it’s a little less than an hour away from my house. 🙂 I’ll have to come visit you some Sunday. When are you moving down?

congratulations!! So exciting! One big thing I try to do especially for the kids is have a box for all things that will make the first night most comfy ex: blankets, sheets, pillows, comforters, towels, soap, special stuffed animal, new movie, rugs for the bathroom floor etc. I specially mark it and keep it in my van with me and it’s one of this first things unpacked! Oh and get markers and stickers for your kids and let them “help” by decorating the boxes special for you! 🙂

Don’t forget to pack toiletries/towels in a very convenient place also, so showers and teeth brushing don’t become a hassle.
Wrap knick knacks and breakables in towels, clothing, curtains, table clothes, sheets. Saves on paper, plus less clean up once you arrive at new home since you won’t have to dispose of a lot of paper.
Keep track of all incoming mail you are currently getting. As a certain item comes in the mail, write it down on your list to remind you that an address change is going to need to be made. (ie magazines, bills)
Have a few snacks on hand and a radio. Unpacking can be like a party when you have snacks and music to listen to.
Don’t forget your 10% moving coupon from Home Depot!
Be Happy!!!

Here are the few tips we learned in our cross country move…
When friends say “can I help?” you say “absolutely, come by tomorrow at 10” — Many hands make light work.
You will want to have access to your cleaning supplies and vacuum cleaner when you get to the new place. Don’t pack them in the back of the truck – perhaps put them with you in the car!
You will need MANY MORE BOXES than you could ever imagine. Start collecting them yesterday.
Label the sides of the boxes with the contents (and room that it belongs in) so that when they are stacked on top of each other you know what’s in them.
Consider a yard sale for the stuff that you don’t want… You can declutter and make some $$
Have fun – this is such good news!
