As excited as we are about our upcoming move, I have to admit that I’m dreading the moving process. The only moves that I remember are when I moved to Virginia to go to college, to Korea to teach for a few years, and when I moved into our current apartment. They were indeed stressful, but they were SOLO as well. I had no children or husband to consider. Just little old me. Saying this though, I know that there are companies like Cars Relo who could give me a helping hand when it comes to taking vehicles to the new place, or I know I have the option to ask my friends if they could help me out, which is good. It may not be as stressful as I initially thought, but we all know the moving process is never easy.
So, I am going to be on the alert for as many ways to make our move as stress-free as possible. Many of you already left some very helpful comments (thank you!) that I know will be useful to this novice mover. I’m also doing that internal debate in my head between cardboard or plastic boxes to use… I might use both, I’m just thinking of how much this time I’ll need to be moving and the best way to transport it!
I was also happy to discover the Home Depot Mover Website (thanks for the heads up, Barbi!). By signing up here, we can save up to 10% at Home Depot for all of the supplies that we will need when we make the big move (up to $200). Considering the fact that we have been renting and may need to buy a refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, stove, lawn mower… not to mention paint, tools, paintbrushes, and the list goes on… (Sheesh…did I say I wasn’t going to stress? Remind me of that, ok?)
The site also offers lots of great tips, resources, moving announcements and more. Go here to find out more!
Now if they’d just send somebody over to start packing boxes for me, we’d be all set.
