UPDATE: WOW! You all have blown me away with your generosity and willingness to give even when times are tough! I read through the comments and posts you left this morning with tears in my eyes.
I am excited to give $110.50 to World Vision as a result of the comments and posts that were left yesterday. Thank you for your part in making that happen! You are more than welcome to continue to leave comments–I am really enjoying reading them!
While at the gym last night, I was offered the option of about 10 different TVs I could view while running. Three of the TVs were covering the devastation in Haiti.
As I watched the coverage with tears in my eyes, suddenly the stories of plastic surgery gone wrong and who’s hosting the latest awards show blaring from the other TVs seemed even more trivial than ever.
It’s hard to find words to describe the devastation in Haiti right now. Heartbreaking only skims the surface.
And they absolutely need our help. I’ve been trying to determine how I can best use my resources in this situation.
So when Crystal (a.k.a. Money Saving Mom) asked if I would like to be a part of a group of bloggers rallying our readers to give, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. What better way to use my resources than to encourage you all to take part?
So here is what I am asking. I am asking you to give if you haven’t already. (Or even if you have!) I already shared two posts with plenty of opportunities to give here and here. You can also text “HAITI” to 90999 to donate $10 to American Red Cross relief for Haiti right away.
I am going to include a Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post. My husband and I will donate $1 to World Vision for everyone who leaves a link to their post sharing what you are doing to help the people in Haiti. For those without a blog, we will donate $.50 for each comment that is left below sharing what you are doing to help. You will have until the end of the day (1/15) to do so.
And, of course, let’s join together in prayer. Let’s pray for every mother looking for her child and every child looking for her mom. For those who know their loved one was lost. For those who are sleeping in the streets without food and water. For those who are still alive in the wreckage. For those who are working day and night to reach them.
If we rally together, who knows what we can accomplish?
Are you ready, readers? Let’s rally!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Unforunately, Mr. Linky isn’t cooperating with me right now. If you are a blogger with a link to post, feel free to leave it in the comments section. You can still view the links that have been left by clicking here, but the only way to post a link is to leave it in the comments section. Sorry about that!

I’ve been praying ever since I learned what happened in Haiti, but wasn’t sure how to contribute.
Now I’m ready to move on an idea had a while back. I’ve been saving all our family’s nut cans for ages. Now I have a huge box of them. I’m going to print up some labels for them saying ” We CAN Help Haiti and CHANGE the outcome!” Then my children and I will give them out to everyone we know,( keeping a list for weekly pick up).
In this economy, lots of people don’t feel they can afford to help much financially, but nearly all of us have coins that weigh down our purses and pockets, that could be doing some good for people in much more difficult circumstances than we are in, here in the U.S. There’s never been a better moment to Love Thy Neighbor!
