I have never subscribed to a newspaper delivery. We have either lived in too rural of an area or the cost has been too high. I refuse to pay more than I can pay at the newsstand.
So I was very excited to discover DiscountedNewspapers.com from a couple of other blogs. I just signed up to have my local paper delivered for almost half the cost that I pay at the newsstand. Sweet!
(It was a 6 month trial period for me and then I will have to cancel if I don’t want to pay more. I just set up my online calendar to e-mail me when the subscription was done, so I don’t forget! In order to cancel, you will need to contact your local newspaper, not Discounted Newspapers.)
I can’t tell you how happy it makes me that I will be able to walk to the end of my sidewalk to pick up my paper now! (And oh yes–I plan on wearing my robe and slippers while holding my cup of coffee. I may even put curlers in my hair just for effect.)
Note to my local readers: I subscribed to both the Philadelphia Inquirer and The Morning Call. I usually buy both anyway since the Inquirer no longer carries RedPlum. The Morning Call was the same price as the newsstand, but I don’t have to drive anywhere to pick it up now!

I was recently on a business trip to Chicago and I picked up the Chicago tribune at the airport since I arrived on a sunday. (I had already clipped the coupons from my local paper) I was thrilled to find many different coupons in the Tribune than in my local paper, the Dover Post. I ended up going to the Tribune website to find it is only $.99/week to order the sunday paper! ITs worth it!

My personal subscription started with Discounted Newspapers and when the trial period was up I requested for my rate to be grandfathered. It did require approval from a supervisor but they approved it and I’ve not had a problem with the rate renewing since then. So, make sure you seek all angles at continuing your subscription at the discounted rate.

I was excited when I saw your post about this site; however, after dealing with their customer service people I will not be using this service. I emailed asking two questions, and the reply I received had nothing to do with either question. I emailed back for clarification and mentioned their listed prices are in fact higher than I can get through the newspaper itself. They replied that I should go with the other option. They didn’t seem to care about getting my business. So, they won’t. I hope everyone else is having a better experience.

Yay! Thanks for posting this information. Do you like Morning Call over the Reporter? I guess I was just thinking if was actually going ever READ the paper I would be more interested in the Reporter. I’ve never gotten the MC so I don’t know what the coupons are like.

Amy,
I have not compared the Reporter to the Morning Call, so I’m not sure which has better coupons. I think they are probably very similar. (It would be interesting to compare them sometime, though!)
I subscribed to the Morning Call because it was offered in my area. The Reporter wasn’t.

Eunice,
From what I understand, all of these are home delivery. Each of mine indicated the times that they would be delivered.
If you entered your zip code and the Patriot News showed up, then it could be delivered to you.
If you have any questions, you may want to e-mail Discounted Newspapers. I had a question and they responded pretty quickly to me.

how can you tell if the newspaper is a home delivery w/ coupons or just via mail? the patriot news is harrisburg, and would be better because of being larger city than lancaster, but would they really do home delivery here? thanks!
