Saving on a Shoestring button-125(2)

April.

Isn’t that a lovely word?  It means spring is here and those long winter months are over.  (We are actually supposed to have near 80 degree weather on Easter this year–that’s a first for me!)

I really like April.  A lot.

The start of a new month also means another Saving on a Shoestring update!  How’s it going for you guys?  Are you sticking to your budgets and finding ways to save for the future?

I have some fun news for you all.  Sharon from Good, True, and Beautiful has some mad skillz with Excel.  I do not.  She very generously offered to help me create a spreadsheet for our Cha-Ching! Christmas Club.

I LOVE IT!

If you are like me, you have been keeping track using a paper and pencil–welcome to 2010, people!  This spreadsheet gives you a place to keep track of any money coming in from any ‘free money’ sites.  There is also a spot to keep track of rebates.  You can track when you sent the rebate in and the amount received.

And get this–put away your calculators because the spreadsheet will add it all up for you!   How cool is that?  (Ok, so those of you with any Excel abilities whatsoever are laughing at me right now.  I can take it.  I’m STILL excited!)

Click here to download the file.  You will need to click on ‘File’ then ‘Download’ to save it to your computer.  Then edit it according to your liking.  Sharon has all those crazy formulas already in place for you.  She’s so smart.

(By the way, if you aren’t already one of Sharon’s readers, you should be!  She’ll make you laugh and she’ll make you cry (in a good way, of coure!), and she’ll inspire you with her fabulous photography and lessons on things like how to make mozzarella cheese.  She is also offering to help you out if you have a blog and are considering a move to WordPress!  Find out more here.  And no–Sharon did NOT ask me to say this!)

Note: Stay tuned for our next Saving on a Shoestring update on Thursday!  I will once again be giving away a $5 Amazon gift code to one of you who links up or shares a comment with an update on how you are making progress with Saving on a Shoestring!  (If you are new, you can read more about it here.)

If you were to recommend one other place to try and make free $, after Swagbucks, what is your favorite?

It’s probably a toss up. Inbox Dollars and MyPoints take very little time and will probably earn you $5 or so a month. If you get an opportunity to sign up for Pinecone research and are willing to spend about 20 minutes per survey, you will probably earn around $6-$9 over the course of a month. I am also a big fan of Huggies Rewards since I have won $75 in gift cards and a free book over the course of 6 months or so. That’s not guaranteed for everyone though.

      Hope this helps!

Welcome
