First of all, thanks to those of you who linked up or commented in my Saving on a Shoestring update. Keep up the great work! The winner of the $5 Amazon Gift Code is:
I have e-mailed you with information on how to claim your prize!
I am also excited to share a new giveaway with you all.
There is a new book available called Be CentsAble–How to Cut Your Household Budget in Half. It is written by Chrissy Pate and Kristin Mckee, the creators of the popular web-site, BeCentsAble.net.
I received a copy of this book to review and really like the concept. I could relate to Chrissy and Kristin, who used to leave their coupons at home on the counter unclipped until life changes forced them to re-consider new ways to save money. I found their willingness to share lessons they learned from their own mistakes very refreshing.
I appreciated the fact that this is more than just a book about coupons. Let’s face it, there isn’t a whole lot of information on couponing that you can’t find out for free on the web.
The book also contains recipes for making environmentally friendly cleaners using household ingredients as well as an entire section dedicated to saving on Travel and Entertainment. There is also a chapter dedicated to cutting utility costs (which could come in handy with air conditioner season fast approaching!). On a side note, one of my friends recently had a Vancouver air duct cleaning company visit her home to clean her HVAC system. This removed all the dirt and dust from the system, improving the air quality in her home. To save some money on your air conditioning unit, you could consider getting yours cleaned. This would mean that you could save money on having to replace your HVAC system if you got it cleaned. Anyway, try reading this book to see some of their tips on saving money with air conditioning! This book would be a great resource for anyone who is looking to find new ways to save money.
