Saving on a Shoestring button-125(2)

It’s the beginning of the month and that means another Saving on a Shoestring update is due!

I do have a little confession to make.  Last month I was at 78% savings toward Christmas.  This month I am at 74%. You don’t have to be an accountant to figure out that some funds have gone missing in my Christmas Club Account. Ahem.

I do, however, have a good explanation.  I dipped into my Swag Bucks account to order our Garmin GPS from Amazon.  This meant using some gift cards that I had designated for our Christmas fund.

Since we are well on our way to 100%, I feel good about this decision.  (Not to mention the Garmin has been a lifesaver on more than one occasion!  Honestly, did we really used to use MAPS to find things?)  I am confident that I will reach my goal by December!

And now for the updates.  I used my handy dandy  Cha-Ching Christmas Club Savings Tracker to crunch my numbers.  Remember that you can download your own copy (click on ‘File’ and then ‘Download’) and then make it all your own.

So here’s the scoop:

Project Cruise 2012: We are up to 16%!

Cha-Ching! Christmas Club: I am at 74%!  (This is from rebates, Pinecone surveys, Swag Bucks, and MyPoints.)

*****

How about you? Have you been saving and scrimping toward a reward or are you a part of the Cha-Ching! Christmas Club?  Then leave a comment or a link below sharing your savings update.  And then PLEASE encourage each other by leaving comments here or on the blogs listed.  If we work on this together, it will be so much more fun!

AND just to add to all the fun going on around here, I will give a $5 Amazon gift code to one person who leaves a direct link to their savings post or a comment sharing an update on their savings.  (I figure it’s just one more way to help you save on that shoestring!)

The giveaway will end Monday, August 9  at 10 a.m. EST. I’ll use Random.org to select the winning comment or link. Winner will be notified by email and listed on this site.

Note: If you have a blog, here is the HTML code for the Saving on a Shoestring button above:

I’ve been saving Target ($35) and Amazon ($50) cards (not that many but it all helps for sure) for Christmas. I am patient like that and don’t need much but I do like to surprise people with gifts as a thank you for being there but I need to save first 🙂

we actually don’t buy gifts for Christmas except for hubby’s parents….does that count as savings? 🙂 we love to spend time together as a family or we take meals to our parents instead of getting more things and exchanging gift cards. 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!

So far we’ve got $85 in Amazon gift cards which I am hoping to use on Black Friday deals…scored some great deals last year. Only $5.20 away from my first $30 with Inbox Dollars. And have enough MyPoints (thanks to double points from Home Depot on our new-unmoldy, unleaky frdige) to get one $50 gift card from our choice several stores. Also, scored some GREAT clearance toys from Kmart last week. They were an additional 50% off their lowest price!
Our rebate fund should start soon, haven’t been saving those yet…
Also,, not sure how we’ll do with the NCP scanning since we just got our scanner…hopefully great!

Love that you scored the Target clearance deals, Katy! I was a little late to that one, but got a few things for my boys’ birthdays and Christmas.

So far I’ve put away $91 cash (money from jury duty and testifying at a hearing), $19 in Inbox cash (should be $30 by November), $25 giftcard from Mypoints, $10 Starbucks giftcard from Pampers points, $25 in Amazon money from Swagbucks. And I’ve already finished shopping for 2 people.
