Last week, I asked for suggestions on upcoming post topics. Several of you expressed concern about sharing your information on Facebook. Here are a few helpful tips for those who asked!
A while back, Shannon from For the Mommas wrote a great post for those who don’t want to join Facebook, but still want to get all the great freebies offered there. If you are hesitant to put your personal information out there on Facebook, I recommend checking out her post here to find out how to keep your account as private as possible.
If you are on Facebook, but are concerned about sharing your information each time another app asks for it, here’s how you can ‘un-allow’ an application after you have grabbed your freebie:
- Go to the upper right hand corner of your Facebook page
- Click on ‘Account’ and then ‘Privacy Setting’.
- On the bottom left, click on ‘Edit your settings’ under Applications and Websites
- Click on ‘Remove unwanted or spammy applications’ under What You’re Using
- Once you’re there, you can scroll through the list and select the apps that you would like to remove.
I wouldn’t share Facebook freebies if I didn’t think they were safe. However, if you are still uncomfortable with sharing your information, then you may just want to stick with all of the other great freebies I share.
If you are on Facebook, be sure to stop by the Cha-Ching on a Shoestring Facebook page today. We’re having a little Facebook party for reaching 3,000 fans. There will be lots of fun little giveaways, so stop on by and join the fun!

I have a facebook account that I use only to get coupon deals. When signing up I only filled out the required fields. And I used my yahoo email account that I also use when signing up for deals on different websites. That keeps my other email clear of ‘junk mail’ that I have to filter through.
