Raise your hand if you have moved more than three times in your life. Seriously. I’d love to know.
I know people who haven’t lived in one place for more than two years at a time.
But I also know people who have lived in their home for years! Many of them have also spent a fortune perfecting it on the inside as well, they know what they want and some of them have a great eye for interior design.
For example, one of my friends has recently just got this customized shower door for their bathroom, and it’s made such a difference! And not only that but they’ve done simple things to their house, that has really helped make it a home – I don’t understand how people who move around loads can manage this?
I also don’t know how people manage to just redesign their whole house without an issue, mine decorating skills are clearing lacking, which is why I like moving into a house which I think is perfect right from the start.
But then again, I also don’t like moving that often, it’s a pain. A huge pain.
Honestly. I don’t know how they do it. I have moved to a new house twice in my entire life (that I remember).
We have had an Extreme Home Makeover-ish kind of week around here as we get ready to move. (Minus the free appliances from Sears, the trip to Walt Disney World and thousands of helpers. Oh and Ty Pennington.)
All I can say is: I am tired.
Oh and did I mention we are moving in two days?
Yikes.
Anyway. I just thought I’d give you a heads up that I will have a few posts scheduled over the next couple of days (and another fun giveaway!), but I am going to take a break from blogging for a few days. So if I don’t respond to comments or emails, don’t feel too badly. It’s just that I am buried under a pile of boxes somewhere, and I’m filled up with sorting out house proceedures! Luckily the home insurance isn’t one I have to give too much thought too as it was done and dusted pretty quickly. I have a friend who recently moved to Pennsylvania and she told me that she was able to get the best home insurance in pa from simply insurance and she could breathe a sigh of relief from it, good for her! The home angels are here for us movers!
So good-bye for a bit! I’ll miss you all! (Unless of course you’d like to come help me finish painting and packing…now wouldn’t that be fun?!)

Growing up I moved 11 times and as kids we looked at it as an adventure. I was always in the same school district so I only changed schools once (that I didn’t like). So when I got married we lived in a apartment for 5 yrs and then we bought a house and we have lived in it for 12 yrs.

I have been moving my entire life. My Mom had a stroke when she had me so I started off going from Aunt, to Grandma to Dad. I did this until I was 11 after that I was on my own.
I have lived in 79 places in my adult life. NO ONE HATES MOVING AS MUCH AS I DO!
A few years ago I was homeless and living out of a car / I even sold the car now I own only my clothing that is how much I hate moving things.
Anyone that has had the chance to live in one home for three or four years I envy.
Anyone that has family and folks that care about them that they can fall back on in times of need I envy.
Life is tough without these things.

I have been married for 13 years and have moved 5 times. My husband is a college basketball coach and is always looking for a bigger and better career move! I have become an expert on selling homes and packing! The key is to not keep stuff you don’t need. We are not packracks because we know how hard it is to pack up, and since moving companies charge you by weight, we only keep what we really want and need.
I try to approach it with a good attitude. I love looking at and buying new homes. I also like getting to know a new area and meeting new people. So I really don’t mind the moves. I guess it’s all in how you look at it!
Good luck!

I hate, hate, hate moving…..did I say hate?
After 13 years in one house, and several moves before that, we just settled into the country this Spring. Worth it now but absolutely exhausting….and during the school year? Yikes!
Praying for you! Let me know if I can help with a guest post if you need more time off…

I grew up a Navy brat and now I’m a military spouse. I can move in the dark with one hand tied behind my back. Growing up I can remember 9 moves (though I’m sure there were some when I was little that I don’t recall, and quite possibly a few I blocked for sanity reasons). With James Bond, we’ve moved a total (so far) of 13 times (some of these include cross town moves or moving from one set of quarters to another on the same base). We’ve been married 15 years. We’re not due to move again until Oct 11 and this will be the longest we’ve ever stayed in one place or one apartment/house. Good times.

Between the ages of 19 and 27 we averaged a move every 7 months including (and I am glad to say) our final move across the Atlantic to America. That was 5 years ago and I don’t want to move again!
Have a good break from your hard work.

When I was younger we moved 9 times in 11 years. My dad would get transferred because one company would buy another one out and if he wanted to keep a job, we would have to move. I went to 5 different elementary schools during that time. I have since moved 10 times, but my husband and I have been in the same place now for 6 years!! (I think that has got to be a record for me!!)
