Update #1:
Renea left a comment letting us know that there may be a way to score an even hotter deal. According to the Big Toy Book (see page 28 here) when you purchase select Hasbro games, you receive a FREE Chocolate Monopoly or Scrabble Game. Well, apparently these free games are also working toward the $35 total needed for the $10 gift card! So here is a possible deal scenario:
Purchase:
(1) Monopoly @ $10.99
(1) Scrabble @ $10.99
Get a FREE Chocolate Monopoly (arv $9.99)
Get a FREE Chocolate Scrabble (arv $9.99)
Total: $21.98
Get a $10 gift card (since the free games are counting toward the $35 total).
Submit for $6 in mail-in rebates.
Like getting these for $1.49 each after rebates and gift card!
Update #2:
Kim let me know that she did this deal today and discovered that it is good on the retail price, not the sale price! That means you can score an even better deal by separating your purchases into multiple transactions. Here are Kim’s transactions:
Transaction #1:
1 Hi Ho CherryO
1 Memory
1 Candyland
1 Chutes and Ladders
Total $16 plus $10 gift card in return and $10 in rebates
Transaction #2:
1 Operation
1 Pictureka
1 Chocolate Scrabble (free)
Total $25.14 plus $10 gift card in return, 1 free chocolate Scrabble and $3 in rebates
Transaction #3:
1 Mousetrap
1 Star Wars Trouble
1 Chocolate Monopoly (free)
Total $20.14 plus $10 gift card in return, 1 free chocolate Monopoly and $3 in rebates
Total spent out of pocket: $59.73
Total gift cards received: $30
Total rebates: $16
$1.52 per game after gift cards and rebates!
*Heads Up: You may want to call ahead to ask if you store has a good stock of these games. Apparently, they don’t give rain checks, so you don’t want to make a wasted trip!
*Note: There is a chance that these scenarios will not work at all stores. You may want to have a back-up plan in place in case it doesn’t. Let me know how it goes for you!

i mailed in a rebate for games i purchased on 11-13 10 and haven’t received it. how can i check on it?

Excellent, I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss something. Yes, this is a great deal. We are fully stocked with these games, but I do these deals simply to give back as donations every year.
Also, our store was out of the free games, but I did ask about them receiving more and they indicated that their trucks come in on Monday and Wednesday evenings and they do expect more.

Could someone provide me with where it says original retail price for the gift card because my store isn’t offering that option? I bought all 4 of the games at 16.80 and they wouldn’t give me a gift card. I even asked about the free games and they told me it doesn’t count toward the $35 total.
kaleyehret says
Hi, Tara!
Sorry to hear that. The promotion does not state that this will work on the original retail price, but that many people were reporting that it was working for them. It was one of those ‘give it a try and see if it will work for you’ opportunities.
I don’t know if Toys R Us caught the glitch and fixed it in their computers or if this is a store by store deal. Has anyone else had success with this?
You should still be able to score a great deal by using the first deal scenario that I posted though, Tara!

Transaction #1:
1 Hi Ho CherryO
1 Memory
1 Candyland
1 Chutes and Ladders
1 Ants in Pants (or any Cootie game)
Total $14.25 plus $10 gift card in return and $10 in rebates
Shouldn’t this be $21 +tax OOP? 5+5+3+3+5
I don’t get it! LOL
Kim says
Sarah,
You are right 🙂 When I look at my receipt I see a $2.41 charge for the HiHo CherryO game. When I was checking out I realized the deal was on shelf price so I returned cherryo from the transaction prior and then she subtracted it from this receipt again. Essentially it’s a mistake and I have to go back. My reciept total is $14.25. I’m lucky I was even able to figure all of this out “in the moment” b/c I was SO excited! Thank you for pointing it out 🙂
kaleyehret says
Yep…you’re right, Sarah! I edited the first transaction to reflect that you actually only need to purchase 4 games to get the $10 gift card based on their retail prices.
Thanks!

That’s an awesome deal. I hope they’re still in stock when I get there! 🙂 Way to take care of Christmas! 🙂

1. The free chocolate deal is a month long deal. If you buy Life, Trouble, Operation, Guess Who, Scrabble, Sorry, Monopoly, Twister, Battleship or Connect 4 you will get a free Chocolate Monopoly or Chocolate Scrabble. The games are $10.99 on sale. The rebate also applies to select games on this list for even further savings. (See Page 28 of the Big Christmas Book for the outline) Please take note that this is while supplies last and there are no rainchecks. The store in Montgomeryville is sold out. They told me to keep calling to see if the delivery contains the chocolate each week.
2. The sale this week on Hasboro games states that you will receive a $10 gift card for every $35 spent on certain Hasboro games. CONFIRMED TODAY that this deal is good on the retail price! I went to my store and the $10 gift card promotion activated as soon as I reached the $35 worth of games (BEFORE) sale price. This made the deal much sweeter. I scored 10 games for $60. I got $30 in gift cards (three separate transactions) and I’m getting $12 in rebates.
3. I would suggest that you calculate your deals based on the shelf price first.
Great deal!

This Hasbro gift card was running this past week, but I wasn’t sure of the details. Here’s another great option, which is how I discovered it by accident. I purchased Operation and Connect Four, which are 10.99 and qualify for the free chocolate Monopoly or Scrabble. That makes 21.98. I got the Hasbro gift card, so the register is counting the free chocolate games (retail 9.99) towards the deal. I don’t know if they changed it or not since I purchased mine last Sunday, but that’s how it worked for me. Also, those two games have a $3 rebate each. So $6 plus tax (after rebate and gift card) for games for the older kids.
kaleyehret says
Hi, Renea! I’m not seeing the free chocolate Monopoly or Scrabble offer listed in this week’s ad. Do you know if the deal is ongoing?
kaleyehret says
Oh wait–I see it now!
