THE BIG GIVE
Are you ready for THE BIG GIVE?!
As you may know, I offer many giveaways on this site. I cannot think of a better reason to hold a giveaway than as a way to promote the cause of GIVING.
This week, I am encouraging you to consider how you can GIVE to someone or a cause in need. Gather together the best of your stockpile or even consider making a special trip to put together a bag of food that will complete someone’s Thanksgiving table. Or if money is tight, consider donating TIME to help a neighbor, a friend, or a local charity. This giveaway is not about the amount given…but what an impact we can have when we all give together!
My ONLY stipulation for entering is that you take a picture of your donation or activity and share it in this giveaway post. (You can now upload pictures in the comments section!) I want to offer a way for us to celebrate GIVING together and pictures say a thousand words!
I will leave this giveaway open until next Tuesday, November 23 at 11:59 pm EST, so that will give you some time to GIVE. {Promise me you’ll have FUN too!}
I’ll go first. I have a few pictures that I plan to share this week. The first is a picture of some giving that we took part in last week. We invited some Jr. High girls from church over and had a blast packing boxes for Operation Christmas Child. (One of my FAVORITE ways to give at Christmas time!) My boys and I had lots of fun shopping for anything that we thought a little boy or girl who didn’t have much would enjoy or need.
Now it’s YOUR turn! Sometime in the next week, leave a comment and picture below sharing how you have participated in the BIG GIVE this week! (If you are reading this in an email or reader, click here to do so.) I will leave a link up at the top of the site so you can easily access the giveaway throughout the week.
The giveaway will end on November 23, 2010 and I will randomly choose one winner of a $50 Amazon Gift Code. The winner will be contacted by email and listed on this site.
Disclaimer: Amazon is not affiliated with this giveaway. I used my Swag Bucks to purchase an Amazon Gift Code so I could encourage my readers celebrate giving!

i am bringing this bag to my daughter’s school for the “joy of giving” to help set up the display. I added in two cans of evaporated milk that hadn’t gotten to the shelving yet.
thanks for doing this; I love the stories and photos.

I love all the great posts! Such a great idea, Kaley!
So, my husband and I have had a tough year between lost jobs, lost home, and a second surgery for our 2 year old (sorry to tell a sob story, but it’s all true). It’s been tough to get accustomed to the changes, especially moving, getting a new job, and for my husband-becoming a stay at home dad. But one thing I have been looking forward to since we more than cut in half our living space is PURGING! And what better way to purge than to give it away to people in need!
Since we are new to our area, I am still trying to discover local charities, but my picture shows everything I have prepared to give away, including a large bag of coats.
Next year I hope to collect toys, blankets, crafts, and anything else that I can hand deliver to Shriner’s Hospital for Children of Philadelphia. They have blessed my daughter with their skillful hands during her surgeries and they are completely funded by monetary donations! The least I can do is provide them with items to give the children! My daughter (and my son) have received several stuffed animals and HANDMADE blankets. I hope you do this again next year so I can show everyone what we bring to Shriner’s!

I know a pic is your one stipulation, but I am unable to post one… sorry!
Your idea for a give was wonderful, refreshing and from the heart. We put our feelers out and were able to locate a family in need. They have just had a baby boy and have no baby items, gear, etc. With out second child being 17 months, we knew this would be perfect for us as we have a TON of baby stuff. So, with my van loaded to the hilt we are giving a swing, bath, toys, jumperoo, highchair, infant carrier with base, stroller, bumbo seat, stroller cover and clothing.
You are right… it does make you feel good to know that you have helped someone and I am thankful for you inspiring your readers.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello:) Ok, I’ll be honest, when I first read about the “BIG GIVE” I thought, what a great idea….too bad I don’t have anything to give (lame, I know). Then I was hit with an idea! We sent out an email to our FreeCycle buddies and contacted a local neighborhood- asking for recyclable bottles and cans. We didn’t have much time (my helpers are 3 & 1 yrs old-so naps are still important) but God provided! Then came the real question, who to bless? We contacted Hope Pregnancy Center and they introduced us to a single mom with 4 children (including a set of twins, under 1 yr old). This is a hard working mom who actually works just hard enough not to get any help from the state. SO, we knew it was a match! Today we went out to buy the turkey and all the sides to go with it (we forgot to put a few things in the picture but you can get the idea). We also put together a lil basket for the hard working mommy from all of our free samples:) Soooo, OOP $0!!!! Just lots of love. I think we made out best of all…I learned that you can still give, whether you have a lot or a little (even if you haven’t gotten the hang of stock piling yet-I think that will come soon;)). Thank YOU for the encouragement and HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone.

Each year, a local playgroup that I am a part of adopts a family within our area (anonymously) and we collect things for their Thanksgiving dinner. Here’s what we’ve got so far. We also do a different family for Christmas- I’ll add that picture when it’s all collected!

I didn’t take a pic of the 10 bags of mashed potatoes and hamburger helper I donated to the food pantry, but here is the rest of my stockpile we’re donating to the local food pantry to help others this week! Love to be able to share our blessings!

The picture is kinda hard to see but I work with a single mom with two young children. We live paycheck to paycheck and have nothing left over to give but I have put together a bag of gently used clothing, a winter coat and a book bag full of educational toys and books to give to her to help out for Christmas.

I tried on both mozilla and IE to upload my photo and it won’t let me…it says there is an error, and it is a JPEG file…please don’t disqualify me! I can email you the pic =)
