Forgot to tell you I’m a current subscriber. Also, the cardboard boxes are free and I jazz them up with leftover wrapping paper.

Love y0ur site Kaley, and would love to organize my closet with this set since I’m currently using cardboard boxes! My clothes deserve this lovely set.

Tip 1: Start early. Our school has class supply lists in the front office and on their website so I don’t wait until open house to get started.
Tip 2: Avoid the bundles or “wrap packs” that some schools sale. They might save some time but they can cost quite a bit more money.
Tip 3: See if you can deduct some school supplies on your taxes. Our public school system gives us a list of specific items we have to buy, including brand names of items the kids are required to have and non-academic supplies like paper towels and hand sanitizer. The list also says this is optional. In addition, they request an “optional” $25 per child supply fee. Since I pay taxes to pay for classroom supplies and the lists say these expenses are voluntary, I deduct these as donations to the school. Check with your CPA.

I try to hit the dollar store to see what school supplies they have before shopping at other stores.
Kim P says
It begans when school ends by going through all last year’s supplies at home and what comes home from school. Saving keepsakes, throwing out what is used up, smelly, unusable, fixing what can be repaired. Then taking note of what is missing. We try to keep it simple because clothes fit for such a short time. Tastes change in school supplies. We have less and try to use coupons and sales little by little to replace as we go. We also stockpile some free supplies for later in the year or to give away.

I “liked” Cha-Ching on a Shoestring on facebook.

I make a list of all supplies needed for my two school aged children and every Sunday I check the ads, and Cha-Ching for the best prices.

I sign up at the office supply stores, recycle my ink cartridges all year long and then I get in store ‘cash’ to get FREE supplies when the sales start!….can you say ChaChing!:) LOL…

I am already a fan on facebook. Love your posts. I did really well this year at Big Lots, picked up most of the school supplies there and a few things from Walgreens with their coupons in their ad.
