Have you ever heard of the 30 Hour Famine? It’s a World Vision event that is held nationwide in various churches and youth groups to raise money for impoverished countries. Groups of teens and adults go without food for 30 hours and ask people to sponsor them in return.
Tomorrow through Saturday I will be joining a group of about 35 teens and adults in skipping meals for 30 hours. By doing so, we will be raising money for the people of Haiti.
I gotta be honest. I’m starting to feel hungry just thinking about it. I do. not. like. to go without food.
But it’s good.
It’s good for me to come face to face with the realities that so much of the world suffers with every single day of their life.
I’ve wavered back and forth, but I finally decided to share the link with you all that allows you to donate money on-line. (Asking you to give money is something I’ve never done before. But I decided this is definitely a worthy cause.)
If you’d like to even donate $5, it would go directly to World Vision to help them in their continued efforts to help those who are dealing with the aftermath in Haiti.
I know that not all of you can give, and that’s ok. But if you can, simply click here to do so. (After you are done, you will be e-mailed a receipt.)
Oh…and no comments about food tomorrow on the blog, ok? I am going to be one hungry girl.
But it’s good.

What an awesome thing to do! I did this when I was a junior in high school. Oh, my, 16 years ago???? Anyway, I still remember working together with the group I was with- we spent most the the 30 hours in a World Vision place, packaging supplies to send somewhere(?), plus having worship time and finally all of us(200?) sleeping on mattresses in the warehouse. I don’t remember feeling that I was starving. 🙂

Bless you for giving so much to others. Since I joined your site a few weeks ago I have saved over $100. You enabled me to have extra cash for this great cause!
You can do it!!

I did the 30 Hour Famine a few years ago and it was a wonderful experience! We worked at a soup kitchen during it which was a little tough, but the hungry feeling goes away. When you are finally allowed to eat, you’ll want to eat everything in sight but be careful because you’ll feel full quickly! Good luck and have fun with it!

We used to do the 30-hour famine every year when I was in jr. high and high school in Canada. It’s not too bad, as long as you keep busy the whole time. I’ve never heard of anyone who’s done it since I’ve lived in the US. Good luck!

You know I know it’s a worthy cause and all but that just doesn’t sound very good for you. I know I could’nt do it, I’m diabetic and I’m eating around the clock it seems. If you can do it without making yourself sick good luck to you!
