We now live about a quarter mile from a grocery store. I realized the other night that I had made a quick : “I-forgot-fill-in-the-blank” trip several nights in a row! While I am grateful for proximity, running to the store for this or that is probably not the best way to stick to a budget. Do any of you have the same issue? How do you keep yourself from making kamikaze runs to the store right before dinner each evening?
Savings from coupons and store sales: $49.94
- Spent $73.77 at Giant, Landis, and Aldi.
- Saved $49.94.
TOTAL SAVINGS:$49.94
TOTAL SAVINGS THIS YEAR: $4157.79

Thanks to the help and inspiration I have received from websites like this one I saved $127. 97 on my shopping trip to Safeway today ($30.45 in coupons)!
The original total did not print on the receipt , but it was around $250 and the total after club card, coupons etc was $115.62.
And fortunately the cashier was very nice and he was even impressed and didn’t grumble about all the coupons at all!

I use to live close to a Publixs and I would run almost everyday. It did not bother me because I would run after work or group with other errands like the bank and postoffice on saturday. Publixs offers so many coupon deals I found it easier to get some deals everyday. Now I live close to a hour from shopping. We menu plan to a t and if we run out we make due with what we have we go out two days per week. One for grocery and another for date day, if I forget something at the store I pick it up on date day after our date other than that we just eat what we have at home. Saves a ton on time and groceries (picking up extras / just because you happen to be at the store) Hope this helps. Give yourself some time to get settled and then set a schedule.

Ah, we don’t live a quarter mile from anything, but my Mom. The closest thing is my CVS which is 7 minutes away–so we totally don’t make quick runs.
