  • Well, we almost made it through the week without grocery shopping.  After giving myself the Shopping in my Freezer challenge, I realized I would still need to shop for the snacks we need for our camping trip this weekend.  However, no REAL grocery shopping was done, so that counts, doesn’t it?!

Savings from coupons and store sales: $6.00

  • After last week’s $10 Challenge, I needed a break from shopping for a week!  So I only hit CVS for the Post Trail Mix moneymaker. (Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my ECBs with me, so I had to pay out of pocket.  Oh well.)  It was nice to take a break from shopping for the week, I have to admit!

    Savings from ‘Free Money’: $2.69

    • Wes and I made around $.69 this week from YouData–are you all checking your accounts?
    • Made $2 in my Upromise account from the Post Trail Mix deal above–my Mother in Law is signed up in our Upromise account did the deal too!

    Savings from cutting costs: $6

    • We’ve been enjoying lettuce from our little garden this week!  It really is yummy…and so fun to step outside our door to ‘shop’ for dinner.  Can’t wait for the tomatoes!

    TOTAL SAVINGS:$14.69

    “A friend of mine and I were talking about how much money we spend on groceries and that it never seems like we get that much or have anything to eat after 2 days. I was a VERY implulsive grocery buyer and just picked whatever, whenever and never thought about the cost or looking for sales. I am embarrassed to admit how much I spent each month on groceries alone. Well that has all changed…”

    (in fact, I will make about $1 after SCR!)

    “My passion for frugality goes WAY back to my childhood.  I grew up very poor and I was aware of it.  My mom often went without meals so I could eat.  We lived on the streets and in shelters off and on until I was about 8 years old.  I knew what it was to be without.  A very long series of events that makes up my testimony brought me to live with my grandparents who were well to do.  I’d often find myself in the mall with my grandma shopping for an outfit feeling totally disgusted by the prices.  I clearly remember thinking “for $50 I could but an entire wardrobe at the thrift store!” read more…

    Whew–Life has been a little crazy lately!  I did the math and  between the wedding last weekend, our camping trip, and a visit to Philly this weekend, we have slept in four different places this past week.  It’s all good–but I’m not gonna lie.  I’m too old for this. =)

    In the midst of the craziness of life lately, I feel like my deal-hunting diva has been repressed and she is not very happy with me.  In order to soothe her wounded ego, I have come up with a super fun idea this week and I hope you’ll join me!

    The Challenge: 

    If given only $10 spending for the week, how many deals can you score?!

    The Rules:

    There aren’t any! Just find lots of great deals!  Be creative!  If you have other spending to do that’s over $10, that’s ok.  Simply report the deals that equaled $10 or less.

    How to Enter:

    Just come back on Saturday and leave a comment or a link sharing your deals on the Cha-Ching Challenge Post.  Be sure to share the what the actual value of the items would have been and how much you spent out of pocket.  It’s gotta be $10 or less!

    This week, other than shopping for our camping trip, I didn’t make it to the store.  But hey–that’s not a bad thing now, is it?

    Savings from coupons and store sales: $55.00

    • I’ve mentioned before that we love coffee around here–and one of our favorites is Dunkin Donuts coffee.  We haven’t purchase any in a while since we can get other coffees for much less.  However, we had a coupon for 4 bags for $20 (SS 6/14, I think)–which is a savings of $3 per bag.  So we bought 8!
    • Used a $1/1 coupon from coffee-mate.com (we needed it for all that coffee we bought!)
    • Shopped at Aldi for camping trip–saved $10.
    • Used a B1G1 entree free coupon for our anniversary date to T.G.I. Friday’s.  Saved $20.

    Savings from ‘Free Money’: $9.00

    • Wes and I made around $2.00 this week from YouData.
    • Redeemed some of my Swag Bucks for a $5 Amazon gift card.
    • I hadn’t checked my Upromise account in a while and was pleased to find about $2 I didn’t realize I had added to the account.

    TOTAL SAVINGS:$64.00

    TOTAL SAVINGS THIS YEAR: $2121.99
