A Newbie CVSer’s ECB Rescue!

February 21st, 2011 By Kaley

If you follow me on Facebook, you may have seen this post recently about teaching my younger brother how to CVS.

So I had to share this email update that I received from him this weekend.  I love the lengths that he went to in order to rescue those ECBs!

“So, I made the purchases.  It went well, with a slight hitch.

I stopped at the gas station on my way to CVS.  Once I pulled into CVS, I looked on the car seat beside me for my ECB’s…and they were gone!  Then I remembered hearing a rippling of paper when I had opened the car door at the gas station, and my heart sunk.  It was a windy day today.  My ECB’s had flown out the door!  I don’t know if my ExtraCare card will show them a record of my ECB’s?  But I had a feeling I really had to have the paper receipts with me.  That was almost the end of my ECB spree.

So I drove back to the gas station.  Sure enough, there were my ECB’s, lying in a puddle! 🙂  I wiped them off with a napkin, held them in front of the heater vent in my car, and although they were damp, they looked good to me!  And I used them!”

I had to laugh that he wiped his ECB’s off with a napkin and dried them with his car heater.  I’d say that the CVS bug has definitely hit him.  🙂

How about you?  Have you ever gone to great lengths to rescue YOUR coupons?

My Moneymaker CVS Trip

February 16th, 2011 By Kaley
This post may contain affiliate links, which means I will make a small commission if you click and make a purchase.

I made a quick stop at CVS today and just wanted to share my haul.  I spent $0.29 OOP for everything pictured above and came home with $11.58 in Extra Bucks.

Here’s how it broke down:

(2) Herbal Essences Shampoo and Conditioner @ 2/$5.97, Get $2 ECBs
-Used FREE and $1/1 coupons that came in the mail last week*
(1) Gain Liquid Detergent @ $0.88
-Used $0.20/1 coupon from PG 1/16
(1) Clairol Nice & Easy Foam @ $7.99, Get $1 ECB
-Used FREE coupon that came in the mail*
(2) Colgate Toothpastes @ $3.79, Get $3.79 ECBs ea.
-Used (2) $1/1 coupons
(1) Ruffles Potato Chips @ $0.99
-Used $0.99/1 coupon from Facebook (no longer available)
Used $8 ECBs
Total OOP: $0.29
Received $10.58 ECBs plus $1 ECB from my Green Bag Tag

*I like to save my free coupons for times like this when they will give me a little more bang for my buck.

For those of you who are new to CVS (or couponing in general), I just want to give you some encouragement to hang in there!  This trip took me about 15 minutes to plan and I was in the store for about 20 minutes (with two boys in tow!).  This whole couponing thing is definitely worth it–and I promise it gets easier!

I also like to celebrate the small victories.  So it’s not thousands of dollars of groceries for like $0.02, but it’s still a big DEAL to me! 🙂

You can check out the rest of the deals at CVS this week here.

How to Be Sure You Aren’t Missing Cha-Ching on a Shoestring Updates on Facebook

February 9th, 2011 By Kaley

Dontcha just love how Facebook likes to change things up on us?

I’ve noticed lately that it seems that many of my friend’s updates aren’t showing up for me anymore.  Thanks to Rose Knows Coupons for some tips on how to fix this issue.

At the top of your Home page click Most Recent, then click the down arrow next to Most Recent and click Edit Options.

Then click on the dropdown menu at the top and select “Show posts from All of your friends and pages”.

If you don’t care to see updates from certain people or pages, you can then hide them by clicking on the ‘x’ to the right of their updates. (Don’t worry–they’ll never know! :))

Want to be sure you don’t miss a thing?!  Then I recommend subscribing to my email newsletter, or my RSS feed.

{Updated} ProFlowers: Bouquets for as low as $20 Shipped!

February 8th, 2011 By Kaley
This post may contain affiliate links, which means I will make a small commission if you click and make a purchase.

Update: Thanks to Katie for giving me the heads up that shipping is actually $10 -$15.  (The $4.99 charge is for guaranteed Valentine’s Day delivery).  So after your Rue La La gift certificate and shipping, taxes, and fees, you could end up paying as low as $20.

Did you snag the $30 ProFlowers gift certificate for only $15 that I posted yesterday?  It’s still available if you didn’t yet!

PLUS I did some looking around on Pro Flowers site and discovered that you could score some beautiful bouquets with a vase for only $15 shipped by using your Rue La La gift certificate!

The Sweetheart Tulips pictured above are only $19.99 plus $4.99 $10 -$15 for shipping (plus taxes and fees).   Your gift certificate will bring your total cost out of pocket to as low as $20!  (There is an additional $4.99 charge for delivery on Valentine’s Day.)

There are plenty of other options to choose from, but be sure to snag your gift certificate here if you haven’t yet.  Your code should show up in your Rue La La account within 24 hours.

Thank You!

Wes and I would just like to take a moment to say, “Thank You.”

Because of you, dear readers, a few months ago I was able to purchase a voucher for an overnight stay at a nice hotel in Philly for free with some credits that were in my Groupon account thanks to those of you who have signed up for offers.  We also scored free tickets to a fun comedy event downtown through some credits that were in my Eversave account thanks to YOU!

So in a few moments we are heading out the door, sans children, and enjoying a much-needed time away.  It will be less than 24 hours, but let me tell you, we will soak up ever hour of our time together.  {I admit it.  I’m giddy.}

I really just want you to know how much I appreciate your support of me and this blog.  Thank you for trusting me enough to sign up for offers that I post.  Thank you for continuing to come back day after day.  Thank you for bringing me a whole lotta JOY!

We appreciate you ALL!

p.s.  Thanks also goes out to my Mom and Dad who drove all the way down from NY to stay overnight with our kids.  Here’s hoping they are ANGELS!
