Cha-Ching challenge

Welcome to the weekly Cha-Ching Challenge!

Did you find a HOT deal this week that you just want to share?  You’ve come to the right place!  Every week I post the Cha-Ching Challenge, sharing my savings for the week.    Add a link to your post detailing your savings for the week OR your favorite deal of the week. I’ll choose one participating blog to highlight next week right here on Cha-Ching on a Shoestring.

Check out my savings for the week below:

I didn’t get a chance to post my savings last weekend when I was out of town.  So here are my savings from the past two weeks:

Savings from coupons and store sales: $107.15

  • Spent $129.65.  Saved $107.15.

Savings from Cutting Costs: $95

  • I found a very fun way to save money last week.  Six months ago, I ordered a discounted newspaper subscription online and my offer was coming to an end.  I called to cancel my subscription because they were going to raise my rates.  Instead, they kept the offer at only $1 per week for Sunday delivery plus they are sending me a $10 Dunkin Donuts gift card for signing up for their E-Z pay program!  So…I ordered two subscriptions and they are sending me an additional gift card!  Saving on coupons and coffee??  It doesn’t get much better than that!

TOTAL SAVINGS:$202.15

TOTAL SAVINGS THIS YEAR: $1244.13

    Kaley,

IS this real? I mean you had me up until the part with the elbow pads and the hard helmet. I mean not that they are not needed. Last week I felt like I needed a suit of armor just to bring home our little bit of food but , honestly the cashier was yelling at me like I had commited the crime of the century and I wasn’t even using but a few coupons. Mostly she was angry because according to her my totals are always way too low!
Can you say coupon police !

Was the local paper you referred to the Intelligencer? I subscribed for $1 for Sunday deliveries but I think it only lasts 13 weeks.

      Hi, Maggie!

No, in this case it was the Philadelphia Inquirer. I signed up through Discounted Newspapers a while back and apparently they didn’t want to lose me as a subscriber. I can’t imagine that they are making any money off of me, but that way they can keep their advertising rates up.

You can check out Discounted Newspapers here: https://chachingonashoestring.com/2011/01/18/check-out-discounted-newspaper-subscriptions-in-your-area/

I had the best shopping trip ever at Kroger this week. I saved 83% and I still made a few mistakes so I should have saved more.

Today I got 2 free bottles of Purex Crystals + $4 in RR at Walgreens!

You can see my blog for info on the Kroger run.

I went to shoprite this week and finally hit the 50% savings mark!!! Got a few things for free after coupons. I used a total of 36 coupons to which I had to get a manager override!! My purchase price was $81.32 after savings, and my total savings was $80.61! I had $24.73 in on sale savings, $52.28 in manufacter’s coupons and and $.56 in store coupons, as well as 7 canvas bags! I was able to get Bailey’s new creamers for 24 cents, a free bag of M&M’s, a free Wonka bar (on sale for a $1, plus a $1 off coupon) a free bag of Vigo rice (I bought 3, coupon was for .50 then another .25 off, they were only .74 each!)

Best deal was the Silver Palate Grainberry Cereals on sale for $2 and I used a $1 off coupon, so got 2 boxes a $1 each, as well as the pancake mix on sale and with coupon I got each box for 74 cents!!!! Always love to find the all natural stuff so cheap. Egglands best eggs were on sale for $1.68 plus I had a 35 cent coupon that was doubled and only paid 98 cents!!!

Thanks so much to Chaching and everyone whose input has helped me save so much these past few months and starting this extreme coupon usage!!!

Welcome
