Welcome to Week 5 of our Project Summer Frugal Fun Challenge. Be sure to complete today’s easy task at the bottom to enter to win a $25 Amazon gift card!
I realized this week that I forgot to add something to our Summer Fun To Do List.
- Take a nap.
‘Cuz boy does that sound like FUN right now.
We are almost to the halfway point of summer break (how is that possible?!) and does anyone else feel the need for a nap right now or is it just me? (Going to add it to the list right now!)
In spite of that, it was a good week.
My oldest son and I ran in our town’s 5K/1K on Wednesday.
It was his first race and he did great.
Running is always better with friends.
I was able to finish in my goal time and I beat last year’s time by several minutes so it was a good day.
And then, of course, we had Cow Appreciation Day today. We went with a big group of friends. It was crazy and chaotic and totally worth it. (Love me some FREE Chick-fil-A!)
My little herd of calves
And to top it all off, we are heading to the Red Robin Sneak Peek nearby tonight for a FREE dinner.
Does it get any better than that?!
How is your Summer Fun Challenge going? Did you go to Cow Appreciation Day? I’d love to see some pictures on our Facebook wall!
The Project Summer Frugal Fun Challenge:
I want YOU to get involved with our Frugal Fun Guide. I LOVE picturing you using my Summer Fun Planner as a resource. This is a tool that I hope will help you have a fun and rewarding summer if you have kids (or grandkids or neighbors or nieces and nephews). And even if you don’t have kids, there’s a little something for everyone!
So here’s what we’re going to do. During the month of June, July and August, I am going to give away a $25 Amazon gift card to someone who joins the Project Summer Frugal Fun Challenge.
Here’s how to enter:
Entering to win is easy. At the end of each Project Summer post this month (there will be many!), there will be one method of entry. If you choose to complete that task, you will be entered!
At the end of each month (June, July and August) I’ll randomly select one winner from the comments left on each of the posts to win a $25 Amazon gift card. So that means the more you get involved with the Project Summer Frugal Fun Challenge, the more chances you will have to win!
Here is today’s task:
- Leave a comment below sharing at least one frugal fun activity your family took part in this past week. (Click here if you are reading this is an email.)

Not that this was free, but it cost less than usual…we took our family (9 children) and a family from church with two children to a local icecream shop that had a special on medium soft icecream for 1.29 each between 5-6 pm for the month of July. considering this same icecream, would normally be $2.20-$2.50 each, the savings did add up in comparison to full price. The children were able to try the “fun” flavors that are usually on the “too expensive” list…cotton candy, bubble gum, cheesecake, caramel, peach, peppermint, cantaloupe, amaretto, etc.
We go camping in the National Park system for half price and get free entry because we have a disabled family member.
Splashpad fun and picnic with group of friends. The kids played soccer, got soaking wet and refreshed and had loads of fun, while us moms got in some relaxing chit-chat time in the shade. Completely free!
We went swimming a our clubhouse pool. It’s a regular activity these days!
We went fishing for free ,just cost of bait! ; )
We also got the Free meals at Chick Fil A and Red Robin. We hit up 7 Eleven for the free slurpees too. Then we used our year passes to the Lehigh Valley Zoo that came with 2 free child tickets too, which was all free to us since my kids received it as a birthday gift.
I signed up my grandchildren for a free bowling program and wowza…they get to bowl 2 free games everyday all summer. Now how can ya beat that for saving big $$ while the kids are having fun,,,(for children under 15)
And you can buy a family pass if you are really into bowling and want to join in with the kids fun. Their Family Pass allows for 2 GAMES of bowling per day, per adult family member, up to 4 family members all summer long! It’s a one-time payment of $24.95 and is great for older siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, and even a babysitter. Spend time with your children at the center this summer and have a blast. The family pass can only be used while bowling with the children.
Go to kidsbowlfree.com and sign up.
It is nationwide..
My husband went fishing with a friend with a boat, so he had a great day out, and now we have a “free” fish dinner (paired with things from the garden!
We met friends at Chick-Fil-a for a free meal on Cow Day!
Had free slurpee at 7-11 with kids, then brought them to fun swim. We just went to Lowe’s this morning to build a Toy story truck, they had fun and happy to get it home :-).
Went on vacation to our timeshare this week and while we were there, they tried to sell us an upgrade. We didn’t upgrade, but they gave us $50 for our time. We were able to use that $50 and pair it with a coupon for a nice family dinner outing while on our vacation.
I got the free Starbucks drink my hubby earned, went to Knott’s Soak City with the 4-pack of tickets I won from My Coke Rewards (just had to buy 1 junior ticket for our youngest), got our free Slurpees, and went to Chick-fil-A yesterday. I’ll try to post a pic on FB.
this was a banner freebie week – we did the soft opening at red robin, had a 7-11 free slurpee, went to cow appreciation day, got a free birthday cupcake from barnes and noble for my daughter, enjoyed my dunkin free iced coffee for my birthday (along with a b1g1 new wrap which we both loved) and a 1/2 price frappuccino. whew, i think red robin was my favorite, but it all was awesome!
“Soft opening” at Red Robin in Collegeville (free dinner) then some girl time trying on “bling” in Charming Charlies.
