“And it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us!”
~A Christmas Carol

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

I truly love this time of celebration, reflection, and giving.  Christmas is so much more than the hoopla surrounding it.  It holds deep meaning for me and I long to celebrate it well.

Which is why I am SO excited to share that next week we will again be sharing a “Beautiful Christmas…on a Budget” series.   I am joining up with Sharon at Good, True, and Beautiful, Katie at Frugal Femina, and Traci at Beneath My Heart to offer tips and insights on everything from holiday baking to inexpensive (yet meaningful!) gift giving.

So stay tuned and be sure to come back on Monday, December 6 when the Fa-La-La-La FUN begins!

In the meantime, be sure to check out last year’s Beautiful Christmas series.  It will get you all warmed up!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Norman_Rockwell_Thanksgiving

I love this picture by Norman Rockwell.  I love the anticipation for that turkey that is clearly seen on the faces of the family gathered around the table and the sense of gratitude that fills the room.

We made our annual trek home to NY for the holidays.  In a few short hours, we will be gathering around my husband’s family’s table in a similar fashion.  And then, a few short hours after that, we’ll be finishing up the day with dessert at mine.  Let me tell you, I am feeling that same anticipation.

And boy, am I grateful.  We are so blessed.  I look back on this year and see God’s faithful provision written all over it.  I am one very thankful girl.

I am grateful for you all–our readers.  You’ve blessed me so many times with your kind words.  Thank you for making our lives a little richer each day.

May your day be filled with anticipation and gratitude as well.  Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Now I have some apple pies to bake and Thanksgiving Day parades to watch!

Walmart Will Price Match on Black Friday

November 23rd, 2010 By Kaley
This post may contain affiliate links, which means I will make a small commission if you click and make a purchase.

Have you been making your big plans for Black Friday yet?  If not, don’t forget to check out the Black Friday Forum I posted about that contains all the ads and lots of discussion to help you get the best deal.

PLUS Walmart just released a press release on their website that states that they “will match the price of competitors’ ads on Black Friday. Customers simply bring in competitors’ ads and Walmart will match the price of any identical product right at the register“. Read the entire press release here.

If you’d rather not run all over town to the various stores on your list, you may want to consider simply bringing the ads from those stores to Walmart.  I’d also recommend printing out the press release and bringing it along in case you have any issues price matching at your local store.

Has anyone ever done this before?  Any tips for the rest of us?

November 16th, 2010 By Kaley
This post may contain affiliate links, which means I will make a small commission if you click and make a purchase.

I am loving this idea!

If you like to send Christmas letters, why not consider sending Christmas post cards this year?  You can get 100 for FREE from Vistaprint right now! (Pay around $6.50 for shipping.) You can even personalize the back of the post card for free.  I don’t think you’ll find a less expensive way to send Christmas cards–especially since you will even save on the stamp!

If you’d rather send your post card in an envelope, you can pay $3 for 100.  Still an incredible deal!

Here’s how:

  • Click here to get started.
  • Scroll down the page to the listing for the 100 free post cards.
  • Click on the offer and then click ‘Holiday & Seasonal” in the dropdown menu for purpose.

Have fun!  It took me just a few minutes to create mine.

Bad News about Weekly Cinema

November 12th, 2010 By Kaley
This post may contain affiliate links, which means I will make a small commission if you click and make a purchase.

I have some bad news.  If you purchased a Groupon from Weekly Cinema, you will want to read what is on their web-site:

“The future of Weekly Cinema is under review. While this review is being performed, we are not able to process or redeem movie ticket coupons. We are working with our deal site partners to achieve a refund for the unused movie tickets and promo codes in your Weekly Cinema account in an amount not to exceed the price you paid for each of the unused movie ticket coupons.”

On a positive note, I was incredibly impressed with Groupon when I called them to get a refund this morning.  They offered to put the amount back on my card or as a credit in my account.  They get an A+ in my book for their positive attitude in handling a situation that clearly was not their fault.

Email Groupon at [email protected] or call 1 (877) 788-7858 (during normal business hours, central time) to ask for your refund.  And remember–this wasn’t their fault!
