Many restaurants are offering FREE food  and deals to Moms on Mother’s day this Sunday. Here is a list of where Moms eat FREE, get discounts or FREE desserts that I’ve gathered. Let me know if you find any others!

PDQ: Moms eat free with purchase of a kids meal on Sunday.

Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt: Moms get a free 8-ounce FroYo on Mother’s Day.

Shoney’s –  FREE Slice of Strawberry Pie for Moms with purchase of an entree on Mother’s Day

Tijuana Flats: Moms eat free on Sunday with coupon.

Billy Sims BBQ – Moms receive a FREE single meat sandwich, side and drink on Mother’s Day.

Beef ‘O’ Brady’s: Moms eat free on Mother’s Day at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s with purchase of an entree of equal or greater value (up to a $10 value).

Spaghetti Warehouse: Moms will receive a free Strawberry Lemonade as well as a special gift.

Starbucks: Get half off any Frappuccino blended beverage from 3-5pm each day through May 10; If you are a My Starbucks Rewards member, you can get the same deal from 3-6pm (This isn’t really a Moms eat free offer, but it’s a good excuse to celebrate a Mom!)

I recommend calling your location ahead of time for any of these promotions to verify that they are participating.

I was inspired by this post to start a new tradition at Mother’s Day using custom notebooks. Instead of my boys buying cards every year which eventually will get tossed away or placed in a box somewhere, why not start a Mother’s Day journal? Each year they can write, draw pictures, add pictures of themselves – with my husband’s help. Then I can tuck the notebook on a shelf until next year when they will fill more pages.

I just love the idea of seeing their progression of handwriting, thoughts and spelling abilities through the years. Not to mention – we’ll save money on greeting cards that just get tossed!

I mentioned it to my husband this morning and he was game, so I quickly made the notebook above. It took me about two minutes.

And I figured – Father’s Day is coming, so I made one for Wes as well:

One of my favorite gifts to send to family and friends across the miles is an Amazon gift card.  You can opt to have the gift card sent in a gift box with FREE one day shipping (looks like it will get there on Monday if ordered today.)  Or you can send the gift card via email, Facebook or print your own.

I also LOVE the idea of creating a personalized video starring your MOM to deliver your gift card.  I can totally picture my Mom giggling while watching it.  🙂

Looking for a last-minute Mother’s Day gift?  Or thinking ahead to end-of-the-year teacher’s gifts?

I am in LOVE with Mason jars these days and had a sudden inspiration earlier today.  I had everything on hand and in just a few minutes, it all came together for this super cute gift idea.

Here’s what you need: 

  • A half-gallon Mason Jar (I got mine at Michaels for around $3.)
  • Some packs of Crystal Light
  • Some  fun straws (I got the ones pictured on Amazon for my son’s first birthday last week.  Maybe you could find some at a party store as well?)
  • Ribbon
  • A magazine

Other ideas: 

Amazon offers some great magazine subscriptions for under $10. You could pick up an issue in-store and slip in a note letting her know that a subscription is on its way to her mailbox.
