Oh! I also wanted to add that this problem did not effect the rest of my purchase and everything else went without a hitch! I purchased about $35 worth of items for about $12…I was so proud of myself!

Thank you so much! I did find their coupon policy at another blog, but it has to be mailed from Walgreen’s, so I will be contacting them and asking for one. Thank you so much for your help!

Beth,
I think you did the right thing. The only other step that I would have taken is to ask for a manager. I would have pointed out the wording on the coupon. The fact that it said ANY should have qualified you to purchase the smaller size. In most cases, stores can lower the value of the coupon to match the price of the item that you are buying.
Another course of action that I would recommend is to contact Walgreens (you can find their contact info on walgreens.com) and ask them for their official coupon policy. I do not see it on their web-site, but ask them if they can e-mail it to you. Hopefully it addresses situations like this. If so, you can take it with you next time you shop there in case you run into a similar situation.
If they send you a coupon policy, I’d love to know what it says about this. It’s a great question!
Hope this helps!

I have a question. Last week I tried Walgreen’s for the very first time with a money saving strategy. They had Airwick Freshmatic’s on sale Full size-$7.49 and Small size-3.99. I had a $5 off maufacturers coupon. They were out of the full size and the cashier would not allow me to get the smaller size because I had a $5 off coupon and the price of the item was $3.99. I told her that usually the item ends up just being free then, and then she made anothor excuse that the item was not the exact pictured item on the coupon although the coupon clearly stated “Any”. I wasn’t sure what to do, so I just politely asked for a rain check for the full size. What should I have done?
