I finally got out and tested the grocery shopping waters in my new town. I hit the Giant, Target, and CVS. Other than getting very lost on my way home from Target, things went well!

Giant: Saved $20.89
Target: Did this Special K deal twice. Saved $29.33 and scored a free gallon of milk from the Pop Tarts deal.
CVS: My 22 cent shopping trip saved me $34.46!

Savings from cutting costs: $10

We finally have been able to enjoy tomatoes and basil from our little garden! Last night I made tomatoes and mozzarella with basil…YUM! Sadly, we had to leave many of our plants when we moved, but we’ve been able to talk family into bringing some down as they come to visit. =)

TOTAL SAVINGS:$94.68

TOTAL SAVINGS THIS YEAR: $2995.23

Coupon Preview: NO Coupons This Week!

Just a heads up that due to the Labor Day weekend, there will be NO coupons in this Sunday’s paper. Didn’t want you to be shocked when you bought your paper!

And while we are talking about coupons, do you know that sometimes it’s better to buy a non-local paper in order to get a better value for your coupons? When I lived in Binghamton, I always bought the Syracuse paper (available at many locations). Now that I live north of Philadelphia, I buy the Philly paper rather than our local one. Last week there were over $500 worth of coupons in the Philly paper, as opposed to around $250 in the local paper. Nice, huh?

Typically, your paper will indicate somewhere on the front page the value of the coupons inside the paper. I recommend comparing papers next time you head out to purchase one!
