Welcome to Day 8 of the 20 Minute Extra Cash Challenge!
We are currently working our way through the sites that will become a part of our Daily 20 Minute Extra Cash Checklist.
So far we’ve signed up for and learned easy ways to earn free stuff, gift cards and cash with: Swagbucks
What’s New Today?
With the evolution of the Smartphone, earning extra cash has gotten easier and easier. From just scanning receipts to scanning items in store, apps make it so simple to add a few extra dollars to your pocket each month. I’ve gathered a few of my very favorites to add to our list – if you haven’t already.
As you know, I don’t recommend spending money just to earn money. I think you’ll find that most of these apps offer cash back opportunities on items that you would buy anyway or sometimes even help you snag items for free. Be sure to subscribe by email to stay up to date on the best deals that I find for these apps!
What if I don’t own a Smartphone?
Great question. A couple of these apps also work on your desktop computer. The others work on a wi-fi enabled device like an iPod Touch. So even if you don’t own a Smartphone, you can still take advantage of many of these offers (minus the in-store check-ins) .
Sign up and download these Money-Saving apps and start earning extra cash in a snap:
Note: All are compatible with Apple and Android devices.
Ibotta: Sign up for Ibotta and download the app on your smartphone. Before you head to your participating store (click here to see the current list of participating retailers), check for offers on your favorite products and click REDEEM. After shopping, take a picture of your receipt, upload it within one week and earn cash, PayPal deposit, or Starbucks, Regal or iTunes gift cards.
Receipt Hog: Simply snap a photo of your qualifying grocery store receipt, and you’ll be rewarded coins. The more receipts you upload, the higher the level you’ll reach and the more coins you’ll earn per receipt. Receipt Hog is a market research company that collects data from your receipts (and any surveys they give you), so it doesn’t matter what items you purchase. Just snap your receipt, and you’re done! Currently you can redeem starting at 1000 coins for $5.00 via Paypal or Amazon gift card.
Checkout 51: This is similar to Ibotta in that you earn cash back for buying select groceries. But if you don’t have a Smartphone, you can just upload your receipts via your computer! Click here to learn more.
Jingit: Sign into your Jingit account daily to see if there are new ads. Some ads can be watched once per day and others can only be seen once. Be sure to download the mobile app if you have a Smartphone and complete check-ins for more earning opportunities. Redeem for eGift Cards or link your bank account to transfer your earnings.
How about you? Can you recommend any of your favorite money-saving apps? Leave a comment and let’s help each other out!

A friend of mine introduced me to a finance app called Billguard. It is a very helpful app but the referral program pays you $5 per preferral. All you have to do is get people to try it. I’ve made way more with this than all other apps that earn extra cash. You can download the app with this link: http://bit.ly/1i6SOHK.

I can’t say enough good things about shopkick. You can earn points just for walking into a store and turning the app on and extra points for scanning barcodes. Cartwheel for target has come a long way. It’s very easy to save. You can use it with manufacturer and store coupons. I’m not sure about mobile coupons. I always forget about them. Saving star has paid off also. I’m not a fan of the app but I do love recyclebank. Except for the disappearance of the amazon gift card. Let’s hope that’s short term.

Another good money-saving app is Shopmium. It is very similar to Ibotta and Checkout 51. I like the fact that was your purchase/receipt is verified, the rebates are automatically transferred to your PayPal account.
