The couponing community continues to blow me away with their support of this crazy idea I had called Couponing for Community.  I’m not gonna lie.  I.am.loving.it!

Here are a few highlights of the day:

  • We now have over 200 participants who have rsvp’ed on Facebook.  (Have you?!)  The pictures  of donations are starting to pop up and if that doesn’t inspire you, I’m not sure what will!
  • I was pleased to find out that the Couponing for Community event was highlighted on MSN’s Smart Spending.  It’s a great article–check it out!
  • Amy at Saving With Amy has put together a hot list of FREE to cheap items that you can still gather this week at grocery store and drug stores.  If you don’t have a stockpile, it’s an easy way to begin!

Tomorrow I plan on beginning to put together my donations.  I can’t wait!  (Oh…and I can’t wait to see yours too!)

Let’s flex those couponing muscles, y’all!

Throughout the week, I’d like to highlight what’s going on in the Couponing for Community world.

  • Julia at the Frugal Find has posed a $5 challenge–with a $20 PRIZE!  Click here for more details.
  • Kacy at Valuing Today has several great suggestions for finding ways to give.

If you are a blogger, I also want  to invite you to leave a link with your Couponing for Community posts.  I’ve been amazed at the response.  We now have over 65 bloggers involved and I’d love to give my readers a chance to check them out!

So if you are a blogger, leave a link to your Couponing for Community post.  And remember that I will have a post up on Saturday for everyone to share all about how you were able to give!

Couponing for Community: What Will You Give?

It’s time!  Couponing for Community Week is here and I can’t tell you how excited I am about what this week is going to bring.

Have you checked out our Facebook event page recently?  We now have over 50 bloggers who are encouraging their readers to GIVE this week. Amazing!  We truly have the potential to impact our communities nationwide with this event.

Hopefully by now you have RSVP’ed on the Facebook event page (just click ‘Attending’) and have had a chance to consider what you are going to give.

The cool thing about this is that it is NOT a competition.  Every bit counts and because we are working together, we can have a great impact regardless of how much or how little each one can give.

I like what one of Julia’s readers has done.  She gave herself $5 and and decided to see how far she could make that money stretch.  (As we all know in the couponing world, $5 can go a loooong way!)

(Oh…and don’t forget to take pictures!  I am excited to see pictures and comments on the Facebook wall, sharing what you have been able to give this week.)

Take some time today to consider what you want to give.  Remember that Saturday, May 8 is Stamp Out Hunger Day.  Giving can be as easy as leaving a bag of non-perishable food items by your mailbox.

Remember: On Saturday, May 8, I will put up a post where we can all share how we were able to give this week.  You can leave a link to your blog or a comment sharing what your experience has been like this week.  This event is all about COMMUNITY: reaching out to our local communities and uniting as a couponing community.

FOR MY LOCAL READERS: I am planning on helping out with the food drive at Keystone Opportunity Center in Souderton, Pa this Saturday.  If you would like to personally drop off your donations, I would LOVE to meet you!  I will have more details about this in the days to come.

Are you ready?  Let’s GIVE!

Have I mentioned I’m excited about this?!

By the way, if you are unsure where to give, you can check out Feeding America’s Food Bank locator here.

Couponing for Community May 2-8: Will You Join Me?

How’s your stockpile doing?  If it’s like mine, it’s growing quite nicely.  I think it’s time to give some away.

I am inviting you to join me in giving a portion of your stockpile away during the week of May 2-8.

In fact, I can’t tell you how excited I am to share this next bit of news.

Ever since that whole Nightline thing went down, I have become more convinced than ever of one thing: we as couponers have the abilities and resources to impact our communities in a BIG way.

And then it hit me–what if we made a united effort to give? The impact could be amazing.

So I’ve been busy, busy, busy behind the scenes inviting my fellow coupon bloggers to join me in asking our readers to GIVE during the week of May 2-8.

And I’ve been thrilled with their response.  I’ve created a Facebook Event page where you can check out the other blogs participating in the event.  Check it out! They just keep coming.

NOTE:  If YOU are a blogger that would like to participate in this event, let me know!

Here is where YOU all come in:

  • First, head on over to the Facebook page and indicate that you plan on taking part by clicking on ‘Attending’.
  • Second, start thinking now about what you would like to give and where. Next week is the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive as well, so giving will be as easy as putting a bag of non-perishable items out by your mailbox on Saturday, May 8.  If you are like me and have a lot of health and beauty items to give away, then you may want to plan on giving to a friend in need or to a local homeless shelter.
  • Third, TELL US ALL ABOUT IT!! What will make this event fun is seeing how much everyone has given!  Upload pictures on the Facebook page and share in the comments what you have been able to give.  Yep–it’s ok to brag!
  • Finally, on Saturday May 8, I will have a Mr. Linky up where bloggers can leave links to posts or you can leave a comment sharing how you were able to give. We all can celebrate together!

WHO’S IN?!

A very special thanks goes to Sharon from Good, True, and Beautiful for designing the ‘Couponing for Community’ button.  Thanks, Sharon!
