CVS Shopping Trip

I finally made a quick trip to CVS this week. In fact, it was so quick, I didn’t even take time to grab coupons before I left the house! Not my recommended form of couponing, but sometimes a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. 😉

Not pictured in this photo: Hot Dog Buns – not an awesome deal, but I needed some!

CVS through 5/31:

Here was my transaction this week:

Buy (1) package of Hot Dog Buns, $2
Buy (1) Snickers Bar, $0.75 (Get $0.75 in ECB’s)
Buy (2) Colgate Toothpaste, $2.99 ea. (Get $4 in ECB’s)
Use FREE Snickers coupon I won earlier this year
Use $7.50 in ECB’s
Pay $0.48 after coupons and ECB’s!

I was tickled when I realized I still had that FREE Snickers coupon – which actually turned into a moneymaker after ECB’s. I love to save my free coupons for such a time as this.

So, I paid $0.48 for $12.16 worth of products.  Plus I have $4.75 in ECB’s for my next trip. I’ll take it!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I made it to CVS yesterday and am finally getting a chance to share my shopping haul.

Before I share my transactions, I wanted to give you a heads up that a high value $2/1 Right Guard or Dry Idea Deodorant coupon printed for me at the coupon printer.

I didn’t have the $2/1 Speedstick coupon with me, but if you receive that coupon you can score a moneymaker this week. Here’s how:

CVS through 5/17:

Speed Stick Gear Antiperspirant/Deodorant, 2.7-4 oz, $3.99
Get $1 ECB’s wyb 1 (Limit 1)
Use $2/1 Speed Stick Gear Body Spray or Antiperspirant/Deodorant from SS 4/27
Plus use $2.00/1 Gear Deodorant from CVS Coupon Printer
$1 Moneymaker after coupons and ECB’s!

(By the way, has anyone noticed that CVS is getting really generous with their coupon printer? I’ve found some awesome coupons in my long train of coupons that flows out of the printer each week.)

Now here are my transactions this week:

Transaction #1:

Buy (2) Nivea Skin Firming Body Lotions (2.5 oz), $2.99
Use (2) $2/1 coupons from RP 5/11
Use $2 in ECB’s
Pay $0; Receive $5 in ECB’s!

If you are just starting, I recommend simply taking advantage of transaction #1 this week. It’s a great way to get ECB’s for less. (Note: If you can’t find the 2.5 oz bottles in stock, be sure to ask for a rain check!)

Transaction #2:

Buy Huggies Pullups (38 ct), $18.99
Buy CVS Baby Wipes (40 ct), $2.29
Buy CVS Baby Wipes (72 ct), $2.99
Buy CVS Training Pants (19 ct), $10.99 – Get $4 in ECB’s
Buy Gillette Venus Razor, $7.79 – Get $5 in ECB’s
Buy Colgate 360 Manual Toothbrush, $3.49 – Get $2.50 in ECB’s
Buy Honey Bunches of Oats Morning Energy, $1.99
Use $3 off $10 CVS Brand Baby Purchase*
Use $1 off CVS Wipes*
Use $5 off $35 Baby Purchase CVS coupon*
Use $3/1 Huggies Pullups coupon
Use $1/1 Colgate toothbrush coupon from SS 4/27
Use 30% off coupon from email – $6.90 discounted
Use $1/1 Honey Bunches of Oats coupon from March ALL YOU
Use $9 in ECB’s
Pay $20.79 after coupons and ECB’s!

So, after all that, I paid $20.79 for $43.58 worth of products.  Plus I have $11.50 in ECB’s for my next trip. Not my best shopping trip ever, but I was able to score some much needed baby items for over 50% off, so I’ll take it!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I took the week off from couponing after my frustrating shopping trip two weeks ago. I finally decided it was time to give it another go for just a couple of things.

I scored some great coupons from the Magic Coupon Printer, however, and decided to make another trip over there today.

I am officially a CVS fan once again! Most of my experiences there are GREAT, so I’m not going to let one frustrating experience drown out all the amazing trips I’ve had.

Here are my shopping transactions this week:

CVS Shopping Trip Week of 4/27/14:

Day 1 Transaction:

Buy (2) Right Guard Deodorants, $3 ea. – Get $2 ECBS’s
Buy (1) Scope Outlast Rinse, $2.49
Use (2) $1.50/1 Right Guard coupons from RP 4/27
Use $2 in ECB’s from last week
Pay $3.70 after coupons and ECB’s
Submit for $2.49 Scope Outlast rebate (ends today)
$1.21 after rebate!

Day 2 Transaction:

Buy Physician’s Formula Concealer, $8.79 – Get $2 ECB’s
Buy L’Oreal Paris Hair Color Root Touch Up, $6.99
Buy L’Oreal Paris Hair Color, $8.99 – Get $4 ECB’s wyb 2
Use $7/1 Physician’s Formula CVS coupon from coupon printer
Use (2) $3/1 L’Oreal Hair Color coupons
Use $3 off $12 L’Oreal Hair Color CVS coupon from coupon printer
Use $9.45 in ECB’s
FREE after coupons and ECB’s!

Plus I fulfilled my $30 L’Oreal purchase for the the $5 SavingStar rebate, so this will be a $5 moneymaker!

So, after all that, I got paid $1.30 for $39.55 worth of products.  Plus I have $6 in ECB’s for my next trip!

Shopping Adventures: You Win Some and You Lose Some

CVS Shopping Trip

Oh boy.  My head is still spinning after this CVS trip.  It seems that everything that could possibly go wrong did.  I think my cashier became distracted as a line suddenly formed behind me.  Although I had everything completely organized, it seems the whole situation flustered him.

Here’s a rundown of the hot mess that took place:

1)  I noticed that $3 in my ECB’s did not come off my total at first.  I pointed this out and the cashier fixed it.

2) My ECB’s for my Hershey’s eggs did not print.  I pointed this out and was given $2.

3) The $2.50 off coupon for Colgate did not come off.  I noticed once I got to the car and gathered the kids back up, headed back in and was given $2.50 back in cash.

4) As I’m writing this post, I realized that the $1.99 in ECB’s from transaction #1 that I used to pay transaction #2 did not come off my  total as well.

5) I also just realized that a $1 off $4 coupon for deodorant did not come off my total.

I think I may just move on.  As frustrating as it is to lose out on some savings, I’m not sure it’s worth a trip back to CVS.

Lessons from this trip:

  • Pay close attention.  Sometime this is difficult when little ones are in tow, but a scan of receipts before you head to the car is always a good idea.
  • As vigilant as we may be about paying attention, sometimes we miss stuff.  We can become completely discouraged or just go back next week and score an even more awesome deal. That’s my strategy, anyway!
  • If possible, I’m going to find another cashier next time. 🙂

CVS Week of 4/13/14:

Transaction #1:

Buy (2) Pepperidge Farm Goldfish, $1.67
Buy (3) Hershey’s Eggs, $3 ea. – Get $2 in ECB’s
Buy Finish Quantum, 10 ct, $3.99*
Buy Almay Makeup Remover, $5.99 – Get $1.99 ECB’s
Buy Colgate MaxFresh Toothpaste, $3
Buy Gallon of Milk, $4 (we were out of milk!)
Use $4/1 Almay coupon from SS 4/13
Use $1.00/2 Hershey’s Eggs Easter Bags, 7.1 – 11 oz (CVS Coupon) (exp 04/20/14)
Use $2.00/3 Hershey’s Kisses, Reese’s, Hershey’s Miniatures, Hershey’s Eggs, Cadbury or Whoppers Bags from SS 4-6
Use $2.50/1 Colgate CVS coupon from Coupon Printer
Use $0.75/1 Finish Automatic Dishwasher Detergent
Use $18.98 in ECB’s
$0.09 after coupons and ECB’s!

**True confessions: This is not an awesome deal.  But remember that Finish rebate I took advantage of a while back?  Ahem…I threw out the UPC code. 🙁  I’m heading to get cut the UPC code off as soon as this post is finished and sending it out in tomorrow’s mail!

Transaction #2:

Buy (2) Lady Speedstick, $2.50 ea. – Get $2 in ECB’s
Buy (5) CVS Peppermint Antacid Flavor Chews, $1.49 ea. – Get $7.45 in ECB’s
Buy Dawn Dish Soap, $0.99
Use $0.50/1 Dawn Hand Renewal coupon (Zip Code 75034)
$13.27 after coupon and ECB’s!

So, after all that, I still managed to score $53.33 worth of products for $15.92.  Plus I have $11.45 in ECB’s for my next trip!

Shopping Adventures: Another Moneymaking Trip to CVS!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It was another moneymaker week at CVS.  I could get used to this getting paid to shop thing, you know?

This week I was sent a $10 ECB survey from the CVS Advisor Panel, so that definitely helped!  They have been quite generous with their surveys lately. Have you guys signed up? Are you getting surveys? I’d love to hear about your experience.

So here is how I was paid $0.21 for everything pictured above ($44.35 worth of products):

Buy (3) ALL Detergent, $7.79 (Buy 1 Get 2 Free)
Buy (1) Just the Basics Paper Towel Roll, $0.79
Buy (1) Zarbee’s Seasonal Relief, $7 – Get $7 ECB’s
Buy (1) CVS Brand Diapers, $6.99 – Get $3 ECB’s
Use $2.00/2 All Laundry Detergent – 3-2-14 RP (exp 04/13/14)
Use $1.00/1 All Laundry Detergent Product
Use $0.79/1 Just the Basics Paper Towel coupon from Coupon Printer
Use $8 in ECB’s from previous week
Use $10 in ECB’s from CVS Advisor Panel
Pay $0.79 after coupons and ECB’s
Submit for $1/1 Checkout 51 ALL Detergent offer
$0.21 moneymaker after Checkout 51 rebate!

Plus I received $10 in ECB’s for my next trip!

Shopping Adventures: How I Got Paid $0.57 for $40.55 Worth of Items at CVS!

March 17th, 2014 By Kaley
This post may contain affiliate links, which means I will make a small commission if you click and make a purchase.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

If you were a fly on the wall yesterday in my car, you would have heard this conversation:

Me to my son: I just GOT PAID to buy this entire bag of stuff.  Doesn’t that make me really cool??

My son:  Um…

Me: Don’t you wish you could get paid to buy stuff?

My son: I’m 8, Mother.

Just a little glimpse into my life.  I was kind of hoping to earn Cool Mom Points on this one, but looks like this kind of awesome is lost on an 8 year old. 🙂  I hope you have better luck!

Anyway, it was a GOOD day at CVS yesterday.  I really and truly got PAID to buy all of the items pictured above.  Cue the music: Oh what a feeling!

Here’s how:

Transaction #1:

Buy (1) Sundown Naturals Adult Gummies, $7 – Get $4 ECB’s
Buy (2) Crest Sensi-Relief, $4.99 ea. – Get $8 ECB’s
Buy (1) Finish Jet Dry Rinse Agent, $6.29
Bu (1) Finish Quantum 10 ct, $2.65 (B1G1 50% off)
Use $5 off $25 coupon from CVS Email
Use $2/1 Sundown Naturals coupon from RP 3/16
Use (2) $1/1 Crest Sensi-Relief Coupons from In-store Blinkie (also $1/1 coupons here)
Use $0.75/1 Finish Jet-Dry Rinse Aid Or Turbo Dry
Use $0.75/1 Finish Automatic Dishwasher Detergent
Use $10 in ECB’s from last week
$5.58 after coupons and ECB’s!

Transaction #2:

Buy (2) Stride Gum, $2 – Get $1 ECB’s*
Buy (3) Saltine Crackers, $3 – Not a great deal, but I had a sick kiddo at home. 🙁
Use $4 in ECB’s from previous transaction
$1 after ECB’s!

*Note: There is a $1/2 coupon in some newspapers for the Stride Gum.  Unfortunately, I did not receive it mine.

So, in case you are wondering how I got paid for these transactions, there was a FREE after rebate form in yesterday’s paper (SS 3/16) for Finish Detergent (up to $4.99) AND Finish Jet Dry (up to $4.50).  I decided to use it in this transaction even though I paid  more than $4.99 for the Detergent because it allowed me to use my $5 off $25 purchase coupon without really paying $25.  I love it when that happens!

So, I will receive $4.50 for the Jet Dry and $2.65 for the Detergent for a total of $7.15 via rebate.  That makes this a profit or $0.57!  I know…I know…I should take away the cost of the stamp, but let me just soak this up for a bit, ok? 🙂

On a side note: If you find the Finish Detergent and Jet Dry priced right elsewhere, you can turn this into a moneymaker just by using the $0.75/1 coupons listed above for each.  Most rebates give you back the full purchase price before coupons, so you’ll pay $1.50 less than the amount you receive from the rebate – Cha-Ching!

OH!  And I also have $10 in ECB’s for next week. :)

How about you did you score any great deals this week?  And, as always, I want to help you score great deals too, so feel FREE to ask any questions, ok?  It’s why I’m here!

Shopping Adventures: An Important Lesson plus How I Paid $4.98 for $48 Worth of Items

March 10th, 2014 By Kaley
This post may contain affiliate links, which means I will make a small commission if you click and make a purchase.

CVS Shopping Trip

I was reminded of a very important lesson I’ve learned in the world of couponing today at CVS.

Make sure all of your coupons get scanned.  If you can catch it before you cash out, that’s best.  If not, just be sure to check your receipts before heading out the door.

I’ve learned that lesson many times – often the hard way.

Today the stars aligned and my little guy wasn’t stealing candy from the checkout aisle or trying to escape from the cart and I actually was able to pay close enough attention to realize that one of my $3 ECB’s didn’t scan.  I mentioned it before I cashed out and the cashier fixed it in a jiffy.  She was my hero. 🙂

I will also say that while I’m happy with the outcome of the trip, I was missing a couple of coupons that would have made it even better.  But I decided to count my losses and call it a day since another trip to CVS just wasn’t in the plans for the week.

So here is how I got everything in the picture for just $4.98 (reg. $48.63):

Transaction #1:

Buy (2) Colgate Max Fresh Toothpaste, $2.99 ea. – Get $2 ECB’s
Buy (1) Colgate Total Mouthwash – $5.99 – Get $3 ECB’s
Use $1/1 Colgate coupon from SS 3/9 (only brought 1)
Use $2 off $10 Toothpaste, Rinse CVS coupon from printer last week
Use $7.25 in ECB’s from last week
Pay $1.82 after coupons and tax*

*I had a 20% off coupon on my card from an email from CVS as well.  It wasn’t supposed to come off since everything was on sale, but it did.

Transaction #2:

Buy (2) Almay Mascara – $5.99 ea. – Get $6 ECB’s
Buy (1) Naturemade Calcium Gummies – $5.99 – Get $4 ECB’s
Use $5/2 Almay printable
Use $3/1 NatureMade coupon from SS 3/9
Use $2/1 Vitamin purchase CVS coupon from last week
Use $5 in ECB’s from last transaction
Pay $3.16 after coupons and tax

And now I have $10 in ECB’s for next week. 🙂

How about you did you score any great deals this week?
